Barrel System
Would converting a two barrel carb and intake to a four barrel increase the horsepower more than fuel injectio?
I was wondering what would add more horsepower to a 1970 pontiac tempest? converting the two barrel carb and intake to a four barrel or converting to fuel injection with a holley ProJection system?
fuel injection will always give you the best power, and mpg. a carb is gravity feed and dumps gas in the motor. fuel injection is computer controlled and meters precise amounts of fuel, under varying engine conditions, that sensors relay to the computer, so the computer can change the timing, and other parameters to optimize fuel delivery. your biggest problem is a big heavy car. if you want to make a daily driver, find a later model gm with the throttle body injection from the mid 90s . this is a pretty good reliable set up that is not as complicated as multi port fuel injection that came after.If this is a weekend cruiser, stuff in a fuel injected 454 out of a 95 pick up, and use the computer and 4 speed automatic that came with it some years the engine and transmission were designed to work together electronically. have fun
